pavucontrol

The volume mixer that actually shows per-application streams.

Works on WaylandGPL-2.0-or-later

Install

Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Pop!_OS

sudo apt install pavucontrol

Fedora, RHEL, Nobara

sudo dnf install pavucontrol

Arch, Manjaro, EndeavourOS

NixOS, or Nix on any distro

nix profile install nixpkgs#pavucontrol

Older than PipeWire and still the fastest way to answer “which application is using my microphone” — that is the Recording tab, and it is the first place to look when OBS shows no input.

Most desktop environments have their own sound settings now, but they typically hide per-stream routing. pavucontrol does not.
