Twitch exposes chat over IRC, so any IRC client can read it. WeeChat is the usual choice for people who would rather have chat in a terminal than a window.

Authentication uses an OAuth token as the server password rather than your account password. The practical advantage over a GUI client is that WeeChat can run on a always-on machine inside tmux, so scrollback survives your desktop restarting mid-stream.
