Where EasyEffects gives you a curated chain, Carla gives you an empty rack and every plugin format Linux supports. Reach for it when you want a specific plugin that EasyEffects does not wrap.

It is a studio tool rather than a streaming tool, so expect more setup. The usual streaming use is hosting a broadcast-grade compressor or a specific noise suppressor, then routing its output into OBS as a PipeWire source.
